SICK OF BEING SCREWED
Bank of America

I made an ATM deposit, which included two checks and some cash. However, no receipt was generated from the ATM for my deposit. (Bank of America does not require a deposit slip for ATM deposits.) I called immediately after the incident and spoke with a Bank of America representative, who assured me, “Since we now have a record of your call, we will look into the matter.” Despite this, I never received any letter or follow-up regarding my lost deposit.

The checks in the lost ATM deposit were cashed by the issuing banks, but nothing appeared on my statement at the end of the month.

When I called again to follow up, there was no record of my original phone call or any record of a deposit being made to my account. Where did this money go?

Since my name was on the checks and my signature was on the back, why was I never informed that the checks had been cashed, nor was any attempt made to contact me about the situation until I reached out again? Is it legal for banks to cash checks written to me without depositing them into my account? Furthermore, there was no effort on Bank of America’s part to notify me of this incident, even after I filed a complaint on the day it occurred.

I went to the branch where the deposit was made to speak with the branch manager, but there was no manager present—only two tellers and about 25 people in line.

This is just one of many incidents with this organization that I believe should be reported.
