During a phone conversation with Smrity and Adam at HP Customer Support, I was told that I only have 103 days left on my monitor warranty. That is incorrect. My monitor was purchased as part of a computer bundle from Costco in Laguna Niguel, California on May 6, 2006. It was not installed or registered until later that month. By my calculations, I have 257 days of warranty let on that monitor. MORE OF A PROBLEM IS THE FACT THAT HP IS NOT HONORING THE MAIL-IN WARRANTY STATED IN THE WARRANTY BOOK THAT CAME WITH MY COMPUTER/MONITOR.
The monitor serial number that I purchased is CNK 54407D2. Unfortunately, due to poor engineering design, the On/Off button broke after only having it in use for 3 months. I called HP customer support center and was told I would receive a new monitor. Instead, I received a refurbished monitor that was manufactured in July 2005. The serial number of the refurbished monitor I received is: CNK 52308MG.
My monitor CNK 54407D2 was only in use for approximately 108 days. I am not happy that I have received a refurbished monitor that is over a year old. It was most likely in use for much longer that 3 months. Are they planning on giving me another full year warranty starting from today? Hell NO!
Page 6 of my Warranty Book paragraph relating to Mail-In Warranty Service states that “HP will return the repaired product to you and incur all logistics and insurance costs to return the product to you”.
I have spoken with HP’s QE, Karen # 6300529545. She has refused to honor the Mail-In Warranty statement. I want my original monitor back (on/off button repaired) or I want a new one. I do not want a refurbished monitor that has been in use since July 2005 – had problems – ….sent to HP for repairs and then pawned off on me. This is not equivalent to what I sent HP.
I am not happy and plan to escalate this matter as far as it takes to get what I want. This certainly is not award winning customer support
